Fraud Among Friends
#1
It is pretty scary to think some one can mail a letter
using YOUR NAME & ADDRESS

I got an email from a friend at yahoo but he said, it Wasn't HIM!

Some one was able to phony that person's email address and get me to click a link.

To whom can I report this?
My friend said he'd tell yahoo :yawn:
like they will ever answer ...

the address he uses at yahoo was the address I saw, how am I to know it is not coming from the real sender?!

minus his and my email addys, this is what I got:

> 142.177.154.141.
> If you do not know a Tony Tiger,click hereto halt reminders about this.

That's craptacular.

Something really needs to be done.
Maybe there's some sense in charging postage for email. It would deter most of the spammers out there. Others will either be the real crafty ones who can get around the system, and one would hope they would be few.

If the feds want to charge that postage, then they might as well put that money to use on better security. Somehow take the use of zombie computers out of the capable hands of the assholes who use them to pester and con people.

The other thing to consider is that there are a lot of people on the internet who don't know what the hell they're doing (and the above is proof of that!) All of those forwarded emails where people are too lazy to trim the other names. I can't stand it! So the other thing that can be done is the education of new users.
