Frankybonz, where are your posts about the set up you use? I bet they were in the unfortunate sections that are no longer showing ...

Hah! Nothing is free.
And yes, those posts were lost. I can do a write up (not right now of course) of what I use.

"nothing is free" {like the connection I'd need to see it?
it sounded like the software will cost but there is no on going subscription fee.

reminds me of the beginning of satellite tv
back when if you got the dish all the signals off the air were free.
then they began coding them so you had to buy a box to decode them.
then that turned into a subscription = on going charges

lots of those huge 6 ft diameter dishes were just so much junk after that.

Wow, I remember those! Most times they were on top of bars in Jersey that were in the middle of nowhere (NJ has a lot of nowhere in fact).

I think you saw how expensive the setup I have costs. $150. But hey, when I move, I don't have to move a monitor AND a TV. My big problem with it is that the software is buggy as hell, and there hasn't been an update to it in a long time.

the idea of watching tv on my lap top >< *crosses eyes*

I MUST get around to fixing this 48" reflector tv.
it is a 1981 model Pioneer Front screen projector.
got the 3 big lights that shine on the mirror .. Sony made one 8 ft!
Now I can't find another.
I do not like the light shining at me!
I like it shining on to a screen, like the theater.
The sound quit on me Sad
I 've been existing with a 19" Zenith that has a pane of smoked glass in front of the screen.
So much of my better stuff is broken [just enough] not to be useful.

Can you post the links again?
in case some one wants to try it?

This is what I have:
http://www.miglia.com/products/video/alc...index.html

I bought it in 2004, so I'm hoping that their newer stuff is better.
Their HDTV thing is limited to receptive transmission rather than cable/satellite HDTV. So I'm sure you'll get fuzzy, ghostly images.

I'm bad news when it comes to antenna reception. I have walked into rooms where a radio is playing, and I disturb the signal.

Must be all that radium from living in NJ.

When I was a kid, I had an old black and white tv, and the antenna kept breaking. I had it held together with tinfoil. Sometimes an old gym sock over the antenna did the trick, believe it or not.

well i dont have tv in my room (i put a record player instead) so yes my ibook is my tv.. and for free..
here is how i do it:
http://www.tv-links.co.uk/
there is almost everything i want.. (sorry ann you wont be able to see the shows cause of your slow connection,  i know you dont like hearing this.. sorry)

but usually i just download the stuff in torrent (google xtorrent ... it has good search in it)

i think this is better than tv, no stupid ads, no news, and i watch the shows when i want, not when someone else decides!

I clicked on Mythbusters .. it is showing .. if I can wait for it to some in ..
this is the same episode I was just watching on Discovery Channel!

if I didn't have to pay for satellite to watch tv
I could put that $45 a month out for a faster ISP
Direct TV has a separate satellie for internet.
They do not tell the price or the speed on their commercials=it must suck

I am going to turn off all other stuff and see if this TV show will load.

* It's Me, Anne

I fell asleep! it actually loaded about 2/3 before I [must have] lost the internet connection.
I am able to watch the show up to the point it stopped loading.
now I am trying again to see the ending, the part I missed was the part I am interested in } what is the best thing to use on skunk spray?

I am embedding their player [for the episode of Mythbusters] in the screening room >>>
