I like the one with the skinny dude and all of the hands pressing or clutching onto him. Looks like a concept I would have come up with.

RE: some pics - Annette - 05-26-2007

they are [for the most part] disturbing.
the one with the hands pinned behind the back pisses me off.
the fat ugly ones :puke2: I'm glad we don't have to see ALL of that one sitting on the bed!
thinking of :downtown: she could pin a person's head between those yams of hers and they'd be asphixiated!

fat women used to be the most attractive few centuries ago

WHY?

I've always been turned off by fat and turned on by muscles
accept in this case [attachment=167]

RE: some pics - northfork - 06-02-2007

because lots were poor and didnt have enough food.
so only the riches had lots of food and the rich women were fat, and the ones wanted more.
never saw fat women in paintings?

:ew: Gross! That 'art' is more like porn .. what's she doing with that hand ..

.."people are starving so 'fat' is beautiful?" {that's sick so it's probably true.
what does that say about now?
when thin is in and the majority of the populus is obese?

old [looking] drawings always creeped me out.
If one of those women got up off the canvas and strutted thru the room
there'd be something unmistakeably different about them.
Don't people [who were] drawn a long time ago look way different to u?

I have to add, I have an aversion to anything SO Old it was owned/used by
"the dead" {probably why this house is creeping me out some of the time.

This area was just built on around 1900-1920's so in 1950-60's when I was growing up it was all fresh,
not left over from a bunch of dead people.
Being where you are, all those OLD structures would spook me Plenty! Confusedpook:

i dont believe in afterlife , soul or ghosts , thats why maybe i am not so scared from dead stuff.
and paintings usually distort reality, people 600 years ago looked very similar like today!

For me it is the reverse.
I have proof from my experiences [at least 3 x] that there IS life after death and
where do you find the proof to substantiate your claim that people look the same from 600 years ago?

RE: some pics - northfork - 06-06-2007

>where do you find the proof to substantiate your claim that people look the same from 600 years ago?

writings and drawings..
Leonardo da Vinci for example drew anatomical drawings of the body for his impressive study, around 600 years ago. look at the drawings and read his views and tell me if your not convinced yet.
he was also the first to discover cholesterol!

we have yet to grow extra fingers, if that's what you mean but for sure
people used to be shorter than they are now.
It is evidenced by the low ceilings and small doorways of buildings right here in my state; they aren't even 100 years old.
As for anatomical changes, I offer up the fact that people are being born without wisdom teeth.
I wonder, how new is that genetic upgrade?

"It is evidenced by the low ceilings and small doorways of buildings right here in my state; they aren't even 100 years old."

that is not a good evidence. actually here, old arab houses are very tall and big doorways. its just an architecture fashion.

about the teeth, i never heard that people used to be born with wisdom teeth, wisdom teeth always appear around 20 years after birth (thats why they are called this way) , can you prove that people used to be born with them?

and the clothes too?!
there are museums here that have the clothes; people were shorter.

No baby is born with them!
that isn't what I mean.
Not all people [these days] ever get them.
I know of three people [I am one] who has none!
Our genes are phasing them out.

RE: some pics - Annette - 06-09-2007

probably the best physical evidence of how people used to look is mummys :mummy:
If one of them were walking down the street today they'd be noticed as different, their heads are shaped differently too.

.. thinking about an old photo album I found in the basement, all of them look strange!

RE: some pics - Annette - 06-10-2007

I'm remembering in 1970 when I was in Hawaii on the main island is a place, a beach called "City of Refuge"
There were these big black stones for ground covering and tour guide was
telling us about the physical [wrestling-type] matches between the Hawaiians
that took place there years and years ago. :naka: :naka:
I asked him: "how could they get a footing? look at the size of these rocks!"
He said, "in those days native Hawiians were very large, average was about 400 pounds and their feet were big and wide."
maybe he is full of it? I don't know

RE: some pics - northfork - 06-18-2007

people around the world are different; chinese , indians..etc..
but that doesnt mean everyone in the the world was shorter/fatter.. hundreds of years before.
evolution works also on humans, so we DO change, but evolution is much slower than you imagine. it takes more than 100000 years for a small change to happen.
never 500 or even 3000 (as the old Egyptians for example)
about the close here, i saw them in museums, old arab clothing, they were not short at all. actually people in the desert still wear the same close today.

how long did it take to phase out wisdom teeth?
Here in californina there are buildings that show how small people were.
No one is going to make a doorway they have to duck to go under.
In Hawaii I was told their men have gotten smaller.
believe what ever you want but if you say something is "blanketly true or false" I don't agree.

I didn't dig up anyone for proof but the graves
right here in Contra Costa County from the late 1800's
are shorter than I am!
what did they do "break everyone at the knee? I don't think so.
I have heard it said that [here] it is nutrition that has made people grow bigger.
I see it among my peers, the sons tower over their fathers.
Let's see what their kids do?
Lots of my peers do have kids in their 30's and so far they seem to be averaging 6 ft and taller for most males.

recently there was a show on about the rise of man
The guy held up a leg bone to show how we are evolving
due to less strenuous physical demands, leg bones of "man" in general are thinning {so they asert
the 'rate' of change, if there has been a pick up or a decrease in the rate of evolution
i think the facts will have to be derived from what we see now that we have ways to see things
Like determining when [most] people will be born withouut wisdom teeth
we'd need to know how far back there were people found without them.
the percentage of skulls we can find isn't enough for "proof" in my opinion.

I am making the assumption we do change as fast as we need to when adapting to survive.
The area around Chernobyl is (so I heard) 100 times higher than what is "healthy" but people are living there eating off the land.
have they adapted to the radiation? that would be Very Fast evolution!

Have you thought of evolution as the elimination of people with certain genes
rather than reprograming of genes?

It has been postulated that the reason Black people in America are found to have high blood pressure is due to the fact
the only Black people that survived the trip over here,
in the belly of those ships
were the ones who's body was able to hold salt.

One of the events a long time ago shrunk the gene pool for this whole planet.
A bunch of differences dissappeared when the people simply died off.
It is suggested there was a climatic change that killed off lots of variant strains of human
