The weather here now is ... - Annette - 12-10-2006

it is just the noon hour and it is getting dark enough to be sunset!
The storm must be ready to rip!
Yestersay it began with a really strong wind, a pause, then the rain came.
I do not think it was that bad, I couldn't hear it from inside.
those really bad rains, I can hear the pounding of the water on the windows.

I like to go out on my bike in my polar fleece and goretex and ride in the rain.
It is so weird not to have a pane of glass between me and the rain!
Confusedinginginrain:

One of the best fun days I had was in the rain at Golden Gate Park with Stewart.
WE went to the Great HIghway and back to the panhandle* (*Haight/Ashbury)
there was a hill of pure dirt that we rode up and over, defying the laws of gravity and sanity.
I slid on my ass so bad, down the dirt hill, I ground the dirt through the goretex and the polar fleece!
I had dirt in my drawers!
I had a streak up by back from the mud spinning off the rear wheel.
I didn't notice till I saw it on STewart, his mud trail was even on his head!
the trickle was coming down his forehead!
What would I give to repeat that day?!
My friend Stewart became a crack freak and a user of people.

He left in 87 for New Orleans, 10 years later he returned but he was no one I"d wnat to know.
"I'll come and stay with you if you pay my way thru life" NO THANK YOU!
His father ownns a big chunk of Telegraph Avenue right in the heart of Hippy-ville.
His brother owns a club that would have been stuarts,
had he worked t make it happen.
Now I hope he is still alive, not another casualty of the flooding of New Orleans for the french quarter was where he'd been staying.

It's sunny and cold where I am today. It was the same way yesterday. They promised mild weather, and it seems to be so for everywhere else. I checked the weather for my home town, which is only 50 miles away, and it's about a 10 degree difference.

It was supposed to snow on Friday, but we got flurries instead. I woke up too late to see anything. I don't mind snow when I don't have to go anywhere. And even then, sometimes that doesn't bother me either, as long as the imbeciles and their SUV's (that aren't ATV's, but drive them like they were) stay off the road.

RE: The weather here now is ... - Annette - 12-11-2006

u mean because the suv drivers are not driving at save speeds?
my last car I drove for 22 years was a vwbug.
the kind the rear wheels will tuck under and make you roll over.
then the van isnt much better,
it has that unverted boat-like top on it .. turns it into a top-heavy wind catcher.
the only other one that is worse Suzuki samori, they flip over at 35 mph
if you see me in your rear view mirror and we are going downhill, I weigh over 8,000 lbs :bigfoot:

RE: The weather here now is ... - Annette - 12-11-2006

Confusedinginginrain: the joys of the first big rain are behind me now. :brr: :freezing-my ass-off:

Del came by to drop off some ham and stuff.
she has a black eye!
she was taking this 90+ yr old woman out in her car and some how the woman dislodged the parking brake!
Del is in her 80's, she scrambled to grab the car and fell.
good it rolled into something unimportant
the woman's house is up on a steep hill above a canyon

Del is the woman that crawled through the burning house trying to rescue the dogs.
she s the one person left in this area I enjoy and can count on.
she has a pug dog[attachment=71] named Buster that she takes everywhere.
I met her a few years ago just after her 39 year old relationship ended.
[he was 16 yr her junior & he died suddenly]

RE: The weather here now is ... - Frankybonz - 12-11-2006

"u mean because the suv drivers are not driving at safe speeds?"

Right. They figure "4 wheel drive! Traction control! I can do ANYTHING! Muahahahaha!" <-- puss brained idiots.
Del sounds like a great human being to be helping people and saving animals! So, was she supposed to be driving the car? I guess the parking break is center-mounted.

Some people when they get older, revert to a curious, child-like state of mind, and end up doing things that they're not supposed to while wondering, "Hmm,... what's this do?" My dad is like that. Well, he's always been like that

I've always wanted a pug, just so I could name it Lugnut.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Back to the weather. I bought a winter cap, and it arrived on Friday. It's an old style cap (my mom calls them Irish country caps) called an ivy, and sewn to it is some fabric that goes around the back of the head and over your ears. It's actually looks pretty good too.

yes and yes

that sounds right too ^ Del was out of the car when the woman released the brake

I've always wanted a pug, just so I could name it Lugnut. :laughhard:

I hope you do! I'd like to see the faces turn when you holler out the backdoor:
"Here Lugnut!" :laughhard:
for for short: "here Nut"
you should draw a cartoon with a dog named lugnut!

Hey! why won't the gif move?!! [Image: 125037620_6677814e87_o.gif]

Charles could use one, he is bald on top.

RE: The weather here now is ... - Frankybonz - 12-11-2006

"for for short: 'here Nut'"

Or better, "Nutter." Then I can say that he leaves behind Nutter Butters! Big Grin

RE: The weather here now is ... - Annette - 12-11-2006

Confusedmellie_pooh:

Butters is that kid in south park!

i think you have a great story line building for a cartoon

RE: The weather here now is ... - Frankybonz - 12-12-2006

Yes, Butters is the gullible blond kid from South Park.

I would rather it be real life than a cartoon. It's so silly it suits me :dancing_hmm:

RE: The weather here now is ... - Annette - 12-12-2006

it is taken from real life.
I heard they did a show about Tom Cruise in the closet that got pulled but
there was a fight to air it and it ended up winning an award!

George Clooney has something to do with that show.. i forget what.

what was the reason Issac Hayes quit the show?

RE: The weather here now is ... - Annette - 12-17-2006

it is cold, they said it would be and it is.
it is barely 60 inside my house.
any colder and I pitch tent in the living room!
I wonder how the mouse is that escaped the other day? regretting it, maybe.

I am glad to have the couch dog free!
For the first ime in 20 years I have declard it off limits to them.
as a futon it ws their bed.
now I won't have to keep washing the covers :happydance: :cheer:
I am doing it for spite after fixing it so nice and getting pissed on!
fuck them!
it is one of the 3 boys, the 2 girls use my bed.
the old girl, she is on it all day and all night.
the young one is under my feet constantly, she gets full use of my bed.

Yep, things are changing around here.
I have plastic runners over the carpets now, no more rubber backed carpeted mats for me to wash and dry.

pretty soon I will park "mouse town" in the waaaaay back of the yard and install a way in and out
let them use it if they want.
I am afraid 5 with turn to 25 in a very short time!

Rhoda's sister was seling mice for food to pet shops in Colorado.
I heard she went bankrupt.
Probably they let the food multiply and now they don't need hers.
since they only live about 2 years I guess they try and get in as much Confusedex: as possible

RE: The weather here now is ... - Frankybonz - 12-17-2006

Good thing I'm not taking that job out there!

RE: The weather here now is ... - Annette - 12-17-2006

It is finally getting warm in here, the heater that quit on me last night is working again.
Yeah, I am glad I'm not in that area either. rictresa is...

RE: The weather here now is ... - Frankybonz - 12-17-2006

Oh, too bad for him then.

The weather has been really nice here in NJ/NY. 50-60°. I heard that this isn't the warmest winter on record. 1998, and 1934 were warmest. Today was a little chilly. I think it was about 45°.

So far, I have worn my winter coat only once. I haven't even had a chance to wear my new winter cap. I'm expecting January and February to be brutal. That's my prediction at least.

RE: The weather here now is ... - Annette - 12-18-2006

By February hasn't it lightened up?

The three months I could do without are Nov-Jan.
One month is winter setting in. The next month is winter.
By January I am so fed up with the cold!
It is the last month of winter.
There will be Cherry Blossoms on the trees by Feb 5th!
It will still be raining but warmer.
After 3 months of rain, that is the time of year we hear about landslides.

I'm surprised they always act so surprised when their house rolls off the hillside or the hillside rolls into their house. Couldn't they see that one coming?
You should see where some people have parked their houses!
On hills only a goat can climb!
They think they are fucking eagles i guess?

*edited
the sun is up and it looks bright
at least for now, no rain in sight.
Two heaters running and my nose is still cold!
wake me in a month or so Confusedleeping:
that's my indicator for turing up the heat.
My nose isn't suppozed to b e cold and wet!
:dogruns:

RE: The weather here now is ... - Frankybonz - 12-18-2006

I like the cold better than the heat. I'm not crazy though, I don't like it when it's so cold that it freezes your lungs when you breath. The only heat I can take is when it's dry. The first time I was in Vegas it was pretty hot, but we're talking March weather for the area, not the summer time, over 100°F brand. I would say high 80's, and I didn't mind it.

Bring that kind of heat here to the New York area, and you've got humidity, mosquitoes, gnats, and post nasal drip from too much air conditioning. At least with the cold you can put more clothes on, build a fire... you can do things to keep yourself warm. You can only take so many clothes off for the heat.

RE: The weather here now is ... - Annette - 12-19-2006

brrr! I woke up about 3 am the air in my room was too cold!
I turned on the 2d heater, it wasn't enough.
2hrs later it was till only 60º
now the sun is out and I still have both heaters on!
my feet are cold and so is my nose!
so cold in the kitchen I can't bear to go back in for more coffee
it makes me cough to breathe cold air.

I guess you are headed to the new job? a 2 hr commute one way?
no snow yet so I hope it all goes well.

RE: The weather here now is ... - Frankybonz - 12-20-2006

yeah, 60° is too cold indoors.

The heat was pretty much off at the old house. I pushed it up to about 63° on the thermostat, and it was enough to make it bearable (my parents have no idea how much gas is left, so they asked that I keep it low).

It's pretty cold tonight. I would say about 40°. So, I'm glad to be back in a real, functioning house!

RE: The weather here now is ... - Annette - 01-21-2007

I saw pictures of snow in Malibu; glad my trip isn't for a few more weeks! I hope it isn't :lightening: :umbrella:
I'll have all the dogs living out of the van with me, sharing a bed .. :wolfpack:

RE: The weather here now is ... - Frankybonz - 01-21-2007

It's been snowing here. We got about an inch by yesterday morning, but it's all gone now. It was nice to see everything coated in white while on my way to work in the morning.

Right now it's 29°F, with a windchill of 13°F. The wind is blowing at 40 mph. I'm staying indoors where's it's warm... though I do need milk.

RE: The weather here now is ... - Annette - 01-22-2007

the wind is gusting up to 40? or flat out blowing at 40 mph?
cuz that's enough to blow the snow off the ground!

when we get gusts above 35 my house is draft city!
if it got that cold here, I'd never get the car started.
I bet pipes would be breaking too.

Do you plug in to one of those engine warmers?
I have heard that in Chicago it gets so cold
the water in the engine blocks freezes and expands, cracking the block!
I have heard of door locks freezing, keys breaking off in them.
Is it that bad where you are?

RE: The weather here now is ... - Frankybonz - 01-22-2007

It gets really cold around here. We've had spells in the teens or less, and I've never heard of anything like engine blocks cracking or keys breaking off in the ignition. I've had trouble starting my car, but maybe at the first try. The second try usually does the it.

Pipes freezing and cracking in houses do happen often though. You have to be sure you have the heat on at all times, and not waste any time to get oil or gas (or whatever one uses for heat) to ensure you have hot water, and not an eventual flood in your basement.

And yes, the wind was blowing at around 40 mph (I read 39 mph on the weather channel, and it sure sounded like it from outside).

I went out last night to get milk and other things at the grocery store. The wind had died down to nothing.

RE: The weather here now is ... - Annette - 01-22-2007

no wonder you don't have the mice like we do here!
the wind where you are would blow them to the next county!
I hate wind, hot or cold; it makes too much noise!

I am surprised you can start your car at all!
I swear, I heard they have engine coils that are a heater that plugs in while the engine is off to prevent the block from cracking, frozen water expands the ports..

I guess they have new shit in radiator fluid now that makes it okay?
and now there is multi-viscosity motor oil too. 10/40 ? is that what you use?

I am older than that.
it used to be, you had to drain the oil for the winter and add a lighter oil.

RE: The weather here now is ... - Frankybonz - 01-22-2007

"and now there is multi-viscosity motor oil too. 10/40 ? is that what you use?"

Yes, that's what I use. And I believe you about the engine heaters. Not a bad idea actually. I'm sure it's much colder out in Chicago. They're further north, and have those lakes above them.

"I am older than that.
it used to be, you had to drain the oil for the winter and add a lighter oil.

Maybe it's still like that. I wouldn't know.
